3:50 pm	News from Gunota that I think is funny! Monday, January 17, 2005 Nishikawa to voice new DESTINY character UPDATED AGAIN Sunrise officially announced that T.M. Revolution's Takanori Nishikawa is voicing the new character Haine Westenfluss. The character is an elite pilot belonging to Athrun's Faith and uses the "Gouf Ignited". Edit: A further explanation for the spelling, as I see it. The name seems to be German in origin, ハイネ being "Heine". But that's not the interesting thing. His last name seems to be the combination of two separate German words, ヴェステン (westen), and フルス (fluss). And, in German, "westen" means "west" and "fluss" means "river". Why is that interesting? Because that's exactly what the two kanji in 西川 (nishikawa) mean in Japanese as well, "west" + "river". Thanks to this Japanese-German site for helping make that connection. UPDATE 2: Haine was the name Nishikawa went by early in his career as the vocalist for the band named Luis-Mary.
